You Paid For It. Do You Own It?
You paid for the logo, the website, the copy. That doesn't automatically mean it's yours. Walk through this to find out where you actually stand.
Who created the work?
Does your contract include an assignment clause transferring ownership of the finished work to you?
This is the most common way businesses secure ownership from contractors.
Without an assignment clause: did you sign a written "work made for hire" agreement before the work started, for a work type that legally qualifies (like a translation or contribution to a collective work)?
Most creative work (logos, websites, copy) doesn't fall into a qualifying category on its own.
