Here’s the trap: the number on that form might not match reality. Maybe it includes platform fees you didn’t actually receive. Maybe it counts refunds you issued as income. If you just copy the 1099-K number straight onto your return, you could end up overpaying — and nobody’s going to flag that for you.

Take 15 minutes this week and do a quick reconciliation:

Download the “annual tax summary” from every platform you use.

Compare the gross income on the 1099-K to what actually landed in your bank account.

Highlight the fees and commissions the platform took out — those are your deductions.

Dig up receipts for supplies you bought in 2025.
